Committees

CLAS operates under the direction and guidance of various committees comprised of faculty from affiliated departments and our own core faculty.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the advisory and consultative committee for the Director of the Center for Latin American Studies comprised of distinguished faculty from departments closely related to the Latin American Studies program.

Admissions Committee

The Admissions Committee carefully reviews and recommends for admission graduate students to the Master of Latin American Studies program.  The committee typically consists of both the Director and the Associate Director/Academic Adviser from the Center for Latin American Studies in addition to two other core faculty members.  The Committee also seeks guidance from two other distinguished faculty members from closely affiliated departments.

 

Tinker/Summer Field Research Grant Committee

The Tinker Committee carefully reviews and selects students to be recipients of the Tinker Summer Field Research Grant which provides funding for research in Latin America, Spain and Portugal.  The Committee also helps coordinate the Tinker Symposium where students who received funding present the findings of their research.
