Do you need help with writing your Personal Statement?  Thinking about a health profession but wish you could hear about different types of careers in health care?  Wondering what admissions committees are looking for when they accept applicants?  Looking for a volunteer opportunity?  Wishing you had the right health-related club to join?   You can find answers to all of these questions--and more!  

Health Professions week is full of opportunities (list of events below!) to learn more about health professions, professional training, how to prepare for applications.  These workshops and browse sessions are designed to help you stand out as an applicant.  RSVP today!

  • The Personal Statement Boot Camp is a 2 part workshop designed to guide students applying for health professional programs through the process of writing effective essays. In Part 1, students will learn what to include in a personal statement.

  • This is Part 2 of the Personal Statement Bootcamp Workshop designed to guide students applying for health professional programs through the process of writing effective essays. Students are required to bring a personal statement they have written and will be revising it in the workshop.

  • Learn from UA Admissions personnel how to be the kind of applicant they want. Speak with UA College of Medicine Phoenix, UA College of Medicine Tucson, Nursing, Public Health, and Pharmacy.

2019 Health Professions Expo

  • Meet with health professional schools across the country! Discover new programs, talk with admission representatives, and learn about different program requirements. You can also learn about Tucson volunteer opportunities and pre-health clubs on UA campus.

Self-Care 101

  • 12:00 – 3:00pm
  • Being a pre-health student is hard! Remember to always take time to yourself and de-stress. This room is designed to help you take a break. Learn how to be mindful, mediate, and/or be kind to yourself. Coloring sheets also available to help you relax! There are also therapy dogs outside!

MCAT Discussion

  • Learn about the MCAT from a qualified MCAT Think Tank tutor. Learn about all the different information you need to know and how to best study and prepare for the exam.

Personal Statement Review

  • Come get feedback on your personal statement from the people who review them! If you bring a draft of your personal essay, an admission representative will sit down and look over it with you.

Out of State Admissions Panel

  • Talk with admission representatives from all across the country! You will learn what they are looking for in applicants and how to best improve your resume. They will offer suggestions and tips and how to strengthen your application.

Red Cross Blood Drive

  • Campus Health, Meder Conference Room
  • 9:00am – 2:30pm
  • Make an appointment in advance! Sign up online using this link! Or go to redcrossblood.org and search the word “letters
  • Give the gift of life! Donate 45 minutes of your time and donate your blood to the American Red Cross. Juice and Cookies will be provided after your donation. Beforehand, it is recommended to eat plenty of iron-rich foods, avoid fatty foods, avoid caffeinated beverages, get 8 hours of sleep, and drink extra water.
  • You can view the eligibility requirements online and read what to do before, during, and after your donation.

Gaining Extracurriculars and Letters of Recommendation
