CLAS Student Ambassador: Katlyn Campbell

What made you choose your CLAS major?

I chose Global Studies because I am very passionate about languages, traveling, and world cultures and I thought it would pair up well with Public Health because it allows me to learn more about international medicine and the global community as a whole.

What unique opportunities did this major offer you?

Learning a new language, beyond the required two semesters and the chance to study abroad, which is the number one thing I want to do in college and the Global Studies major allows me to have the best of both worlds.

If you major has a concentration or a focus what is that and why did you choose it?

My concentration is Global Health and Development and I chose that because I want to learn more about the science and medical field but also incorporate my love for world travel and to learn about different cultures and countries.

What do you plan on pursuing after graduation?

As of right now I am not sure exactly what my plans are, but hopefully go to graduate school and get my Masters in Public Health, I hope that will allow me to work abroad in a medical facility.

Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? If so, what are they and how are they contributing to your college experience?

I am in a club called Project Sunshine, working and volunteering with kids. It helps me connect with other students and I get a chance to do something I love while giving back to the community.

Will you be studying abroad? If so, where are you going and what are you looking forward to?

I hope to study abroad in France because I am taking French right now and would like to speak it fluently. I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning about a country’s traditions, customs, and cultures while experiencing it first hand.

Will you have an internship? If so, what is it and what are you looking forward to?

I do not have an internship right now but would like to in the future, hopefully incorporating public health.
