Jill Calderon

Though Jill works for the Office of Study Abroad & Student Exchange, her office is located here at CLAS.  Jill completed her BA at Colorado State University in Creative Writing. After graduation she set out for Costa Rica where she worked at becoming fluent in Spanish while running her own business, Escuela Latina de Lenguas, S.A., a language school. While in Costa Rica, Jill had the opportunity to travel throughout Latin America. She came to Tucson from Costa Rica in 2000 to work at the UA. For nearly 5 years, she worked for the Office of International Affairs before transitioning to her current position. Currently, Jill is pursuing her MA in LAS while advising for the majority of our Latin America programs and assisting CLAS with international initiatives in teaching, research and study programs abroad.

Colin is a native of Arizona and a two time graduate of the University of Arizona; BA in Anthropology (2005) and MA in Latin American Studies (2007).  Before joining the Center's staff, Colin graduated from the department and wrote his thesis on "The Politics of Migration in Mexico's 2006 Presidential Elections."  As Program Coordinator Colin organizes the CLAS speaker series, special events and our outreach program.  He also runs the CLAS website, listservs and AV equiptment.  Colin is the husband of Michelle and proud father of two, Caden Micheal and Amia Bell!

Julieta is the Business Manager for CLAS.  Her warm and friendly personality make her office a great place to stop into while at the Center.  Outside of CLAS, you are likely to see Julieta on her bike, pedaling her way to and from campus each morning and afternoon.  In addition to biking, Julieta spends a lot of time in the kitchen, preparing traditional Mexican foods (she makes amazing molé) or something resembling a five star meal out of her latest cookbook.  Julieta is Mom to three children, ranging in age from 15 to 24.
