Elena Jackson Albarrán (M.A. Latin American Studies, Ph.D. History, University of Arizona), is Associate Professor of History and Global and Intercultural Studies (Latin American, Latino/a, and Caribbean Studies Program) at Miami University of Ohio. In 2020 she was named the Distinguished Educator for Miami University's College of Arts and Sciences. She teaches courses on twentieth century Latin America, Mexico, revolutions and social movements, childhood, and popular culture. Her research examines the politics of childhood and youth in the Americas, with a special emphasis on child-centered cultural history. Her recent book Seen and Heard in Mexico: Children and Revolutionary Cultural Nationalism (Nebraska 2015) won the María Elena Martínez Book Prize from the Conference on Latin American History.
