LASSO is hosting its 3rd Annual Latin American Studies Symposium this Friday, April 11th, from 9am to 3pm at Kachina Lounge (Student Union).
ALASS is an all-day symposium and an opportunity for graduate and undergraduate students to present research on Latin America in an inclusive, student-focused environment.
This year, we are excited to announce Dr. Nadia W-Charles as our keynote speaker, presenting:
A Zero-Sum Game: The Racial Paradox between Haiti & the Dominican Republic
Dr. W-Charles will provide a historical overview of race relations between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Using case studies of similar geo-political interactions, the local paradox will be problematized and mythologized as a consequence of Black nationalism.
