The Américas Award recognizes U.S. published children’s and young adult books that AUTHENTICALLY and ENGAGINGLY portray Latin America, the Caribbean, or Latinx communities in the United States.
The Américas Award Committee is now accepting submissions for the 2026 Awards. All submissions must be published January 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025. All submissions must be received by January 31, 2026.
The awards are administered by the Consortium of Latin American Studies Programs and coordinated by both the University of Arizona’s Center for Latin American Studies and Tulane University’s Stone Center for Latin American Studies.

NOMINATION GUIDELINES:
- The book must be published in 2025.
- The title may be for primary or secondary reading levels.
- Language of publication may be English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, or any language indigenous to the Americas.
- The book must be published in the United States (including Puerto Rico) or by a publisher with offices within the U.S.
- Submissions may be fiction, poetry, folklore, or non-fiction.
- A book will only be considered in its first year of publication in the United States.
- TO NOMINATE a 2025 copyright title, publishers or authors are invited to submit 12 copies of the nominated book to the Américas Award Review Committee Members by Jannuary 31, 2026. There is no entry fee.
