Lucila Velásquez
Lucila Velásquez Soriano is a dedicated sociologist with a strong background in development project management, community intervention methodologies, and disaster risk management. Born and raised in the Dominican Republic, she has a profound commitment to improving social conditions and addressing complex challenges in her community.
Lucila holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Magna Cum Laude, from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo. She has also completed several specialized diplomas in disaster risk management, humanitarian supply chains, and project management.
Her professional journey includes significant roles such as the head of the Digital Innovation Laboratory Research Division at the Government Office of Information Technology and Communication, and Project Coordinator for various initiatives funded by international organizations like ECHO and USAID. Lucila has led multidisciplinary teams, formulated and supervised research projects, and established collaborations with academic institutions and private entities to foster innovation and digital technology development.
Lucila's academic interests are centered on understanding and addressing the social, cultural, political, and economic dynamics of Latin America and the Caribbean.
