My Master's Degree in Latin American Studies prepared me for the Ph.D. program by helping me develop and improve my language skills, introducing me to the complex and fascinating history of Latin America, and giving me the chance to study with knowledgeable professors who shared their passion for Latin America.

James E. Wadsworth is a tenured full professor and department chair in the history department at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts, where he has worked since 2002. His research interests include the Inquisition, colonial Brazil, piracy, Native American history, and the history of exploration. He is now working on a book-length project entitled A Circle of Hands: An Ethnography of Light and the Gift at the Edge of History. This work examines cross-cultural contact and exchange across the Western Hemisphere in the first centuries of trans-Atlantic contact.
