Kevin G. Andrade is a Portuguese- and Spanish-speaking freelance journalist based in Rhode Island. He got his B.A. in Political Science and History from Rhode Island College in 2010, and his M.A. in Latin American Studies from the University of Arizona in 2012. Throughout his career, he has been published by several news outlets, including: O Jornal: The Portuguese Journal, The Yuma Sun, The Providence Journal, The Boston Globe, and several NPR stations in R.I. and Massachusetts. His work focuses on immigrant communities and examines justice, the military, southern border issues, education and healthcare. He was recognized by the New England Newspaper and Press Association for "Ripped Away," the story of a man who died in Cambodia shortly after his deportation in 2020, and the Metcalf Diversity in Media Awards later that same year for ""Reunited at Last," a story about a Guatemalan father and son who were reunited in R.I. almost a year after they were separated in Texas during the 2018 border separation crisis.
