Academic Program Coordinator, School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies and the Roshan GIDP in Persian and Iranian Studies, University of Arizona
Olivia Conklin

"My degree in LAS encouraged me to pursue a career in higher education so that I can continue working in an environment that values learning, research, and engagement. In this career, I can support students in their efforts to achieve their academic goals in the way that the Center for Latin American Studies helped me to achieve my own."

Olivia Conklin is originally from Chesaning, Michigan and received her BA in Spanish from Central Michigan University in 2020, and her MA from the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of Arizona in 2023. Her research interests involve Latin American feminist discourse and mobilization, particularly in the context of the Southern Cone right-wing dictatorships and democratic transitions in the twentieth century. Olivia’s experience in her BA and MA programs has encouraged her to pursue a career in higher education. After graduating with her MA, Olivia began working as an academic program coordinator for the School of Middle Eastern and North African Studies and the Roshan Graduate Interdisciplinary Program in Persian and Iranian Studies. Olivia enjoys being able to support students in this role, while continuing to promote academic programs dedicated to interdisciplinary area studies.
